Member count for Discord

Show Discord member count, online members, roles, and boosts as locked voice channels in the sidebar. A member count Discord bot without a second install.

Sidebar channels

  • Members: 12,226
  • Online: 1,842
  • Boosts: 14
  • In voice: 23

Updates every 60 seconds

A member count Discord bot writes the number into a channel name the whole server can see. Discord’s native member count lives in the member list and disappears on mobile. Live Counters put member count, online count, role counts, and boosts in the sidebar and refresh every 60 seconds — the fastest channel-rename rate Discord allows. ServerStats is the dedicated stats bot this replaces for sidebar numbers; we are not a counting-game bot.

Member count channel

Create a member count channel from Dashboard → Counters. The bot makes a locked voice channel named with your format — for example “📊 Members: 12,226”. Everyone sees the Discord member count in the sidebar. This is the job people search as member count discord bot: a visible number, not a minigame.

Online, role, and boost counters

The same mechanic covers online members, a single role’s size, boost count, and people currently in voice. Typical free setups use three or four channels: total member count, online, one role, boosts. Role counts need the Manage Channels permission the bot already requests.

Custom formats

Formats are channel-name templates. Variables include {members}, {online}, {roles:RoleName}, {boosters}, {voice}, and {channels}. Example: “🎯 {members}/2000 members”. Free includes those templates; Pro adds custom formulas.

Versus Discord’s native member count

Discord shows an approximate member count in the member list on desktop. It is easy to miss, it is not a channel, and you cannot show online, roles, or boosts next to it. A member count channel stays in the sidebar on desktop and mobile. Native Insights still needs 500 members and does not rename channels.

Update limits (60 seconds)

Channel names update every 60 seconds. That is Discord’s rate limit for channel renames, not an artificial slowdown. Joins and leaves can wait up to a minute to appear in the name. Live events in the dashboard still update faster.

Setup

1. Dashboard → Counters → Create Counter. 2. Pick Member count or another template, or paste a custom format. 3. The bot creates the locked voice channel. 4. Drag it to the top of the sidebar in Discord. 5. Free: up to five channels. Pro: unlimited. ServerStats is the stats bot most people used for this sidebar trick; you can run the same member count here without a second invite.
